Q. Can a stone driveway be
installed/created over my existing asphalt
driveway? |
A. YES! It does not require your
existing driveway material to be excavated.
That saves you money. |
|
Q. What exactly is a "stone driveway?"
How is it better than others? |
A. Our business is called "Fairfield
County Oil and Stone" because they are the
primary ingredients in this unique
application process, also known as "chip
sealing." It is the process of taking
an oil solution (i.e., liquid asphalt) and
special stone and applying it to existing
pavement, or a prepared raw surface area
(e.g., new construction established
lawn/dirt area specified for the driveway).
This process results in a resilient,
great-looking way to strengthen your
driveway without sacrificing a consistent
look to your home's entrance (i.e., that
would occur with standard paving or blacktop
applications). |
|
Q. What about color? We have a
red clay ground color - is there any way to
match it? |
A. YES, you may choose a close color
to match. The cover stone used comes
in a variety of colors and may be chosen to
best match the consistent look of your
driveway environment. |
|
Q. What about care and maintenance? |
A. Rustic Driveways made of Oil and
Stone are extremely durable and resistant to
wear and tear. No special maintenance
is required and, during the winter, snow
plowing will not hurt the driveway material. |
|
Q. How long is the process, and what's
involved? |
A. Typically, the process is completed
in the same day as the start of work.
After that, it takes 2-3 days to cure the
adhesion of oil and stone. |
